LaGrange dominates Apprentice, hands Builders their first loss

The Builders (2-1) absorbed their second defeat in as many years from the Panthers (2-1), who scored 31 second-half points Saturday and pounded them in Newport News.

Brendon Scott rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries for LaGrange, a USA South team from Georgia. Jamie Sellers ran for a 76-yard touchdown on his only carry.

The Panthers’ Shedrick Lindsey was 13 of 27 for 234 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

LaGrange harassed Apprentice quarterback Mason Tatum into by far the worst game of his freshman season. He was 3 of 14 for 11 yards and three interceptions.

Trevon Hatch led the Builders with 102 yards and a first-quarter TD on 21 rushes. Apprentice’s other touchdown came on Isaiah Washington’s 33-yard fumble recovery.
